Summer is here and it's hot! Water is essential for municipal use, agricultural use, and preserving aquatic habitats in Texas. Due to the high temperatures over the next months it is common for Austin to go through droughts. At home, conserving water is the best thing to ensure we always have enough. Additionally, conserving water can help save money on your power bills since less energy is being need to filter, heat and pump water to you home.
Here are some tips that you can do at home to reduce water waste...
- Take shorter showers (when taking a bath- fill only half way)
- Find and repair any leaks in water lines
- Turn off water when brushing your teeth
- Fix dripping faucets and hoses
- Run the dishwasher only when it is full
- Monitor water bill for any change in use
- Install water-saving shower heads
